Le champ de Manguiers de SACRED / SACRED mango tree field

Je me suis rendu avec Maruthi, le fils de Monsieur Thippanna sur le champ de manguiers appartenant à SACRED dans la périphérie de Anantapur.

Il y a 250 manguiers et le nom de cette variété de mangues est "Benishan". La saison de la mangue se situe entre mai et juillet.

La production annuelle frôle les 2.5 tonnes par an et représente une aide financière non négligeable pour SACRED et son action sociale.

Le clôture a besoin d'être renforcée car il y a de nombreux vols et un manque à gagner important. Grâce à la réparation de la clôture, nous pourrons l'année prochaine envisager une production supérieure à cette année.

Le manque d'eau dans la région fait cruellement défaut et il est difficile d'envisager d'autres cultures pour l'instant. Les nappes phréatiques sont de plus en plus sollicitées et il faut creuser de plus en plus profond pour trouver de l'eau ce qui représente un coût important.

I went with Maruthi, Mr. Thippanna's son, to the mango field owned by SACRED on the outskirts of Anantapur.

Il s'appelle Shekar et travaille à Thuggali dans le bâtiment où je vis. Il ne parle pas beaucoup et marche avec difficulté.

Tous les matins il vient nettoyer ma petite maison avec beaucoup de régularité et je peux compter sur lui si j'ai besoin de quelque chose.

Je lui avais préparé un petit repas indien "épicé" pour le remercier et je l'ai invité à dîner avec moi. Mais il a refusé car il avait honte. J'ai donc pris le plat et nous avons dîné dans la pièce de réunion sur le sol utilisant la main droite comme cuillère comme tout indien qui se respecte !

Les petits moments de partage qui semblent insignifiants sont parmi les plus importants et restent comme une encre indélibile dans le coeur et les mémoires.
